Art installation "The Pilgrims"
Monday, 06/05/2024 / 10:00 AM - 05:00 PM / Schwerin Cathedral St. Marien and St. Johannis
The art installation "The Pilgrims" by artist Johann Kralewski has so far been exhibited at 8 locations in Switzerland. Schwerin Cathedral is the first location in Germany where the installation has been realized. The exhibition is complemented by 2 further installations, the "3D Portraits" and the "Ancestral Gallery"
What does the artist say?
"It was perhaps a coincidence, or perhaps not, that the incubation period of the pilgrims was delayed for several years until it was born into the "Corona period". Thoughts that I recorded in writing in connection with this installation only emerged during the course of the project. A lot of things became clear to me while I was working with the figures, but the quintessence, at least what I think it is, only became clear after everything was finished. Perhaps what makes this project so appealing to me is that it has a lot of lively content."
The "3-D Portraits" are dedicated to prominent personalities of the 20th century, while the "Ancestral Gallery" is described by him as an ancestral gallery of the nameless. Here he has combined a historical architectural element of the cathedral with the discreet drawing of the ancestral gallery.
