Public guided tours: Fünfeichen Memorial and Memorial Site

  • Free of charge

The main camp IIA Fünfeichen was opened outside Neubrandenburg in 1939. Over the course of the war, around 120,000 prisoners of various nationalities passed through the camp. At least 6,000 inmates did not survive their stay, with the vast majority of the dead being Soviet citizens. The camp was liberated by the Red Army in 1945 and subsequently reused. In the course of mass arrests, more than 15,000 Germans were imprisoned here, of whom around 5,000 died as a result of the prison conditions. Today, a memorial commemorates the victims.
