Set in a tailor’s workshop that took on commissions for theater and film in the mid-1970s, Ferzan Özpetek weaves together professional and personal challenges into a tribute to women, the pursuit of freedom, and creativity.

Italy 2024 (German theatrical release: September 3, 2026), Director: Ferzan Özpetek, Runtime: 135 minutes
Starring: Luisa Ranieri, Jasmine Trinca, Stefano Accorsi, Luca Barbarossa, and others.

An entire garden full of women of all ages, body types, and temperaments, gathered around a table laden with dishes. In their midst is a director, played by Özpetek himself. “I want to make a film about the power of women, about women’s work,” he announces to his actresses—and by extension, to the audience as well: “Here’s to women and those who love them! You are my diamonds!” Champagne corks pop, the women cheer, while the camera circles them, gliding over and past them. After the garden party, the actresses sit at the cleared table and flip through the pages of the script. Gradually, a second, fictional reality emerges in a tailor’s workshop in Rome in the mid-1970s that takes on commissions for stage and film.
