Virtuoso organ music by the "Master of Fugues"
Experience a festive organ concert with virtuoso Bach works and powerful improvisations on well-known spring melodies and songs. You will hear contemporaries as well as pioneers of the Leipzig composer such as Johann Sebastian Bach, Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy and Johann Ludwig Krebs. Eisenberg's life was shaped by playing the organ. Even as a young boy, he stood in for the cantor of his small hometown, demonstrating his skills at the age of just 9. However, the focus of his musical and improvisational talent has always been on the oeuvre of Johann Sebastian Bach. At the age of 24, Matthias Eisenberg was appointed 1st Gewandhaus organist and was thus able to pursue his passion close to Bach's place of work and make countless internationally acclaimed recordings possible.
The concert program highlights the focal points of Eisenberg's 60 years of national and international stage presence: virtuoso preludes and fugues are brought to life with his frenzied hands on the organ. The highlight for all listeners: free improvisations on well-known melodies in which the organ legend and "the Eisenberg phenomenon" lose themselves completely in the intoxication of the music in seemingly endless crescendo and espressivo. A musical firework display that resembles an earthquake and has been sweeping international audiences off their feet with enthusiasm for decades. As one of the most important organ virtuosos of our time, the 'Master of Fugues' Matthias Eisenberg will present two thrilling hours of organ music with his unique playing and expression. A 25-minute concert break is planned.
