Cinema in the Latücht: THE PHOENIC MASTER STORY

Cinema in the Latücht: THE PHOENIC MASTER STORY

USA/Germany 2025, Director: Wes Anderson, Length: 101 minutes
DA: Benicio del Toro, Mia Threapleton, Michael Cera, Tom Hanks, Scarlett Johansson, Benedict Cumberbatch and others.

As always, Wes Anderson does his own thing - but with his story about Benicio del Toro as a shady businessman, he also strikes an unusually macabre tone that suits his work well

At the center of the film is the shady entrepreneur Zsa-zsa Korda, who made a great fortune around 1950, but also made a few enemies along the way. The recent increase in attacks on his life prompt him to make arrangements for his possible demise and make his daughter Liesel his sole heir. She is initially irritated, as she has had no contact with her father for years and is actually in the process of becoming a nun. Eventually, however, she agrees to accompany her father in the realization of his life's work, the construction of "Korda Land", a huge infrastructure project in the Middle East. As a condition, Liesel demands that he renounce slave labor and fight famine on site. The task now is to win over a wide variety of investors while fending off attacks from terrorists and hostile governments.
