Towards the end of the Second World War, several people come together in an abandoned hotel in the middle of Germany. Five-year-old Sophie and her parents, awaiting passage to America, the Nazi officer Scharf, the Hitler Youth Beckmann and the
Russian officer Wassili. The encounter ends fatally for Sophie's parents and Sophie loses her memory. Recruited by the Russians as a cook, she spends years in the labyrinth of the hotel preparing food for the Russians. The audience learns that decades pass through the front page of a newspaper and also acoustically from the off.
After the screening, puppeteer and filmmaker Heinrich Sabl (once also a member of the Neubrandenburg Puppet Theater ensemble) will be available for a discussion with the audience.
