The four-gate city of Neubrandenburg invites you to a commemorative event at an important place of remembrance. The victims of National Socialism will be honored in silent remembrance and a sign of historical responsibility will be set. Meeting point: "Kamm-Silhouetten" (Directions: Coming from Neubrandenburg in the direction of Neustrelitz along the B96, after the second forest path on the right after leaving the town)
2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War and the liberation of the camps in Neubrandenburg. Since the opening commemorative event on January 27, the anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp, this significant year of remembrance has accompanied the four-gate city of Neubrandenburg. For the people of the city, April 29 has a special significance: on this day 80 years ago, the 2nd Belorussian Front reached Neubrandenburg, marking the end of the war in Neubrandenburg. At the time, the city was characterized by a branch of the Ravensbrück concentration camp, armaments industry and numerous places under National Socialist forced labour - including the Trollenhagen air base, the torpedo testing facility on Lake Tollensesee and the Deutsche Reichsbahn. Forced laborers from Eastern Europe and France were particularly affected.
