What happens to a society when all women simply do nothing for a day? On October 24, 1975, around 90% of women in Iceland laid down their wages and housework, took their children to their husbands' workplaces and forced the country to come to a standstill with huge demonstrations.
This day went down in history and marked a turning point in the social recognition of women in Iceland. In her documentary "A day without women", Pamela Hogan presents the history and impact of the strike, gives a number of the women involved in the strike a chance to speak and highlights parallel developments in other countries.
