"The way back to Teterow - testimonies of a Teterow family from three centuries"
On the occasion of the museum's 35th anniversary on Sunday, May 18, 2025, the museum will give a brief overview of the development of the collection, which is the basis of all museum work. The staff are therefore delighted to be able to present bourgeois domestic culture and testimonies alongside the large number of objects that have come into the museum since 1986 and then especially after the museum opened in 1990. This was made possible by decades of contact with the granddaughter of the Teterow building contractor Awolin and daughter of the long-time slaughterhouse director Dr. Johannes Kurth. It was always the wish of Mrs. Hannelise Kurth and her father that relevant objects and documents of the family should return to Teterow. They are representative of middle-class life in Teterow in the 19th and 20th centuries due to the economic boom, especially in the Wilhelminian era. On display are photos, documents, home interiors and furniture.

Hanna's daughter, Hannelise Kurth, donated valuable documents and objects to the Teterow Town Museum in 1998, documenting the spirit of the times and the history. A number of her objects have been on public display in the Malchiner Tor since 2017. These include iron jewelry and household objects that document the First World War and the jingoistic patriotic sentiments of a large part of the population up to the beginning of the First World War with the motto "Gold I gave for iron" and "Thanks to the fatherland". Typical jewelry and interiors from the Wilhelminian era can also be found there.
Household objects, especially porcelain and cutlery with monograms, were considered a sign of a cultivated lifestyle from the Biedermeier period until the 1930s.
