Relatives of formerly prominent Jewish families from Teterow attend the memorial stone dedication ceremony
Jewish families lived in Teterow for generations. They were an integral part of our town—as neighbors, merchants, and artisans. They shaped the town’s economic, cultural, and social life and were committed to the common good. Nazis from Teterow harassed them, stripped them of their rights, and deported them to camps. Most of them perished there. Fifteen memorial stones serve as a lasting reminder of their lives and fates.
Never again. Together for remembrance, respect, and humanity.
The victims will be commemorated during a solemn ceremony featuring a lecture by Steffi Katschke—director of the Max Samuel House in Rostock—as well as remarks by Martin Shenfield and Jeanne Nickelsburg. Teterow Mayor Robert Straßburg and State Rabbi Yuriy Kadrykow will address the guests with opening remarks. Students from the Europaschule Gymnasium Teterow will provide musical accompaniment.
