Emmanuel Pahud :
The French and Swiss flautist Emmanuel Pahud began studying music at the age of six. He graduated from the Paris Conservatoire in 1990 with 1st prize and continued his studies in Brussels, Paris and Basel with Aurèle Nicolet. He won 1st prize at the competitions in Duino, Kobe and Geneva, and at the age of 22 Emmanuel joined the Berlin Philharmonic as principal flute under Claudio Abbado, a position he still holds today. He can also look back on an extensive international career as a soloist and chamber musician.
Emmanuel performs regularly at major concert series, festivals and orchestras worldwide and has worked as a soloist with leading conductors such as Abbado, Antonini, Barenboim, Boulez, Fischer, Gergiev, Gardiner, Harding, Järvi, Maazel, Nézét-Séguin, Orozco-Estrada, Perlman, Pinnock, Rattle, Rostropovich and Zinman
Emmanuel is a committed chamber musician and regularly gives concerts with the pianists Eric Le Sage, Alessio Bax, Yefim Bronfman, Hélène Grimaud and Stephen Kovacevich as well as jazz with Jacky Terrasson. In 1993, together with Eric Le Sage and Paul Meyer, Emmanuel founded the Summer Music Festival in Salon de Provence, which is still a unique chamber music festival today. He also continues his chamber music performances and recordings with "Les Vents Français", one of the leading wind quintets with François Leleux, Paul Meyer, Gilbert Audin and Radovan Vlatkovic.
He is committed to expanding the flute repertoire and gives new flute works every year to composers such as Elliott Carter, Marc-André Dalbavie, Thierry Escaich, Toshio Hosokawa, Michaël Jarrell, Philippe Manoury, Matthias Pintscher, Christian Rivet, Eric Montalbetti and Luca Francesconi and Erkki-Sven Tüür.
Since 1996, Emmanuel has recorded 40 albums exclusively for EMI/Warner Classics, all of which have received unanimous critical acclaim and awards, representing one of the most significant contributions to recorded flute music.
Emmanuel Pahud has had the honor of receiving the Chevalier dans l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettr (French Order of Arts and Letters). He has received several ECHOS for his recordings, is Honorary President of the French Flute Society and is the winner of the Léonie Sonning Music Prize for 2024.
Anaëlle Tourret:
French harpist Anaëlle Tourret is one of the leading soloists on her instrument. In March 2018, at the age of 25, she was appointed principal harpist of the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra in Hamburg, Germany.
Anaëlle Tourret regularly performs with renowned ensembles around the world such as the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio-France, the Lucerne Festival Academy Orchestra, the WDR Symphony Orchestra, the Helsingborgs Symfoniorkesters and works with conductors such as Esa-Pekka Salonen, Christoph von Dohnányi, Paavo Järvi, Marek Janowski, Christoph Eschenbach, Semyon Bychkov and with soloists such as Leonidas Kavakos, Frank-Peter Zimmermann, Matthias Goerne and Nina Stemme.
Anaëlle Tourret won an impressive number of prizes at international harp competitions at a young age. In 2015, she won four prizes at the 19th International Harp Competition in Israel.
In 2019, the Berenberg Group awarded her the prestigious Berenberg Culture Prize in recognition of her outstanding achievements.
By utilizing the new possibilities of modern technology, Anaëlle Tourret is redefining the role of the harp among other musical instruments; her performances reach an audience of millions, an unprecedented online following in the history of the harp. Anaëlle Tourret also commissions new musical works to expand the repertoire of her instrument; to date, she has created over twenty new pieces for harp. In 2020, Anaëlle Tourret was invited to perform at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles with Pierre Boulez's Ensemble Intercontemporain.
Anaëlle Tourret was born in Orléans, France, in 1992. She studied harp with Ghislaine Petit-Volta, Nicolas Tulliez, Andreas Mildner and Xavier de Maistre.
She teaches as Xavier de Maistre's assistant at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg.
