The robbers

The robbers

Reality check: Who are Schiller's robbers? Do we still have marauding gangs that live in the woods and lie in wait to rob and even murder? No! We have our police... Yes! But they're just hiding somewhere else now. Maybe the club is their new nightlife. During the day, they chain themselves to trees and fences in all weathers. They glue themselves to the streets while using social networks to expose their innermost feelings.
Karl von Moor, leader of the band of robbers and his father Maximilian's favorite son, rebels against his family, class and society. His begrudging brother Franz seizes the opportunity to initiate an intrigue that puts Karl out of favor with his father. The band of robbers slips away from Karl and his rival Spiegelberg sees his hour has come, while Karl realizes that his "finest works are being poisoned". Amalia, Karl's fiancée, also becomes a pawn in Franz's game.

In their new adaptation, Dirk Brauner and David Stöhr offer a contemporary interpretation of Schiller's original.
