"Rostock, my Arcadia"

How have writers seen and described Rostock? Author and graphic artist Matthias Dettmann guides us through the city using literary voices. Authors as diverse as Walter Kempowski, Uwe Johnson, Jürgen Borchert, Käthe Miethe, Erich Kästner and Ernst Barlach refer to the Neuer Markt, the Steintor, the ramparts and other places in the city. Excerpts from their texts will be performed and supplemented with historical perspectives and contemporary references.

During the walk, there will also be time for a coffee break with the famous "drinking woman". The walk is based on the anthology "Rostock, my Arcadia" (Hinstorff Verlag, 2018) edited by Dettmann

Meeting point: Neuer Markt (meeting point opposite the Hotel Sonne)

    Duration: approx. 90 minutes
Participation fee: €8 (incl. hot drink at the Pesto Peter snack bar), tickets available at the start of the walk. Registration possible (not required): reservierung@literaturhaus-rostock.de
