After 1000 years in May

After 1000 years in May

On May 8, 1945, the German Wehrmacht surrendered unconditionally. This marked the end of the Second World War in Europe and the National Socialist regime of terror in Germany. "After 1000 Years in May" is a scenic collage about the zero hour, when the country lay in ruins. A reminder of what happened and of what no one wanted to hear or see, a reminder of what was to become and what became of it. Four women look back - with songs and texts from Heine to Eisler, letters and eyewitness accounts. In the rooms of the historic Domjüch mental hospital, we go in search of traces.
