Exhibition opening: From one day to the next
Saturday, 17/05/2025 / 03:00 PM - 04:00 PM / Societät Rostock maritim e.V.
After 30 years, photojournalist Manfred Scharnberg returns to places in MV that he photographed immediately after reunification. The exhibition "From today to tomorrow" shows the change in moving images, texts and sounds. Opening: May 17, 2025, 3 pm, Societät Rostock maritim. Admission free.
From one day to the next, almost everything changed for people in eastern Germany after reunification. Manfred Scharnberg, who captured these harsh upheavals as a photojournalist in the early 1990s, has now revisited the same places in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern: Schönberg, Rostock, Barth and Anklam. The result is two independent reportages 30 years apart, which are juxtaposed in the exhibition "From today to tomorrow". It is an exciting look at the changes in our society today.
The unusual presentation of the exhibition is like a multimedia magazine. Short texts and captions explain the background to the more than one hundred pictures. Visitors can listen to statements by some of the protagonists on their own smartphones.
