Edin Karamazov has attracted the attention of the music world with his rousing virtuoso performances as a lutenist and guitarist and has received unprecedented acclaim from audiences and music critics alike. Edin Karamazov has recorded numerous CDs and performed worldwide as a soloist with leading international early music ensembles and artists such as the Hilliard Ensemble, Hesperion XX, Andreas Scholl, Dorothee Oberlinger, Nuria Rial and Sting. With his outstanding skills as an interpreter and his technical brilliance on numerous historical and contemporary string instruments, Edin Karamazov has thrilled concert audiences at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Wigmore Hall, Philharmonie Berlin, Konzerthaus Berlin, Konzerthaus Vienna, Herkulessaal Munich and at festivals such as Schleswig-Holstein, Rheingau, Mosel, Niedersächsische Musiktage, Istanbul Bach, Espinho and many more.
Edin Karamazov plays several plucked instruments from a wide range of cultures and eras and also explores the possible uses of lute instruments in modern music and contemporary improvisation. He bridges the gap between early music and contemporary music with works by John Dowland, J.S. Bach, Leo Brouwer, Ravi Shankar and Astor Piazzolla. In addition to his solo career, Edin Karamazov enjoys collaborating with singers and instrumentalists such as Andreas Scholl, Nuria Rial and Dorothee Oberlinger in various styles and projects.
Edin Karamazov began his musical career with the classical guitar under the patronage of Sergiu Celibidache and has won first prizes at a total of four guitar competitions. He completed his baroque lute studies with Hopkinson Smith at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis.
